The Application for Skilled Migrant Visa

We got our invitation to apply for the skilled migrant visa at around a few minutes after 10:00 PM (Singapore Time) on 30th September. Knowing for a fact that we claimed 70 points in our EOI, I was actually expecting the invitation to be given to us on the next round of invitation.

It was a very simple letter congratulating my wife for receiving an invitation to lodge a Skilled Independent visa application but for both of us it meant that we are getting closer to fulfilling that simple wishful thinking that came about while on vacation in Melbourne a few months back.

We wasted no time and filled out the visa application form – it was not too difficult to fill out as most of the details from the EOI were already copied over to the visa application form. The same scrutiny was given though as any wrong information that we placed in our application may be a ground for visa refusal.

It is funny looking back at what happened. We started doing the visa application at around 10:30 PM and we actually finished it before 11:00 PM. Then my wife double-checked the details and afterwards we took our mind off the application and had midnight snack; three packs of Lucky Mee Hot & Spicy Pancit Canton.

Shortly before midnight, our minds (and eyes) were rested and our stomach filled, we did one final individual check before we submitted the application.

Oh yeah, before submission, we need to pay the visa fee of A$3,060 – a very HUGE amount if you ask me hence it is very important that all details are correct and we will be granted the visa.

When I clicked the pay button, I knew that we were on that point of no return. At that moment, assuming that everything will go as planned; we know that life will never be same again.

At around 2:00 AM, we were already done with our application and were tucked in our bed already. It took me a while though to go to sleep, as I was already thinking on what we need to do next and when to do it.
